OK. I ordered the $69 parts washer from Homier.com. It was shipped from
them yesterday so I should have it in my garage shortly. This is a 20 gal.
tank. I'm happy.
Some of you have suggested solutions to use in it. I would very much like to
use Agitene or Super Agitene, but the cost is a bit high. In fact, 20
gallons of Super Agitene is more than the washer. So I need some help.
(Again!!)
It doesn't say on the Homier web site, but I am expecting that this parts
washer is intended for solvent based cleaning solutions. There are other,
more expensive washers that recommend aqueous cleaners. Can I use an aqueous
solution in mine without destroying the pump? I can get Crystal Simple Green
or Zep Industrial purple cleaner for a lot less than Super Agitene. (A 5
gal. pail of Zep concentrate is only $28 at Home Depot.)
Also, I have not even found a vendor for regular Agitene. Grainger has Super
Agitene only. Safety Kleen is now in bankruptcy and about to be sold off,
but they only rent solution anyway.
Lastly, I used oderless mineral spirits mixed with motor oil in my old 3 1/2
gal parts washer. I would really like to try an aqueous cleaner, just for
the inherent safety factor. Any thoughts or comments?
