I'd second (?third?) the idea of caution in trying to cool 22,0000 cu ft
poorly insulated space. It's one of the big drawback of the big- metal-
buildings- as- shop ideas for me.
My first house in KC, MO, was one story/ ranch, 10,000 cu ft. It had poorly
blowin in insul in attic; R11 in walls. Alum siding/ insul foam board
underneath. Our first summer there, the 1.75 ton AC ran continuously, kept
the house at 85 at best, and cost $$$ to run. That Fall (when I could
survive in the attic), I put in R19 batts. Winter was good (no prior year
for comparo). Next summer, the AC ran about 20 mins out of the hour, bill
was 1/3, house was 76 and easily maintained.
<<Hi Mark,
I'm not sure how "well" the shop can ever be insulated.>>
