Brakes on bikes DO offer up some unique problems and solutions. At the
"Barber Motorsports
Museum" in Birmingham, AL, Race Team Manager, Lee Clark, showed me an
Italian race bike (Gillera?) with some magnificently contrived front brakes.
The disc rotated in the opposite direction to that of the front wheel! On
the jackstand, I could spin the wheel forward and the brake disc turned
backward . . . .some planetary works inside the hub I guess. It was
supposed to combat suspension-dive under braking or something . . . I wonder
if it was worth the extra weight and complication?
