There is a product from GM called the "top engine cleaner" which is a
15oz can of some mystery stuff. Half of the can gets poured into a warm
motor through the spark plug holes, then the car sits for a day. The
plugs go back in, the motor gets started, creates a bunch of smoke...
and then you suck the rest of it in via a vaccuum hose (creating much
more smoke). I don't know if this is what you're talking about, but it
might be.
Sounds like the aftermarket bit might be a better solution, though.
