Coat the mating surfaces of the (new) sister and the existing joist. Clamp
them together. Then use "premium deck screws" (that's what we call 'em here
in the midwest) at a 6" or so spacing, staggered, to permanently clamp the
two load bearing joist's together *before* the glue dries.
