If taking this attitude please be informed. I do understand that your post
comes from a different list and was not authored by you, but please pass
this on. Because misinformation is bad.

According to Grassroots Motorsports (12/2001) they list donations by the
automotive world as.

Daimler Chrysler- $10 million as you said

BMW - $1 million to American Red Cross, 10 X5 Sport Utes, and 100 BMW police
Motorcycles (value of package $2.4 million)

VW - $2 million (like you stated) but remember Audi is VW (as is Bentley,
Lamborghini, and Porsche)

Ford - $1 million to American Red Cross, 10 Excursions for the NY Fire
Department, and donated use of 48,000 sq feet of office space for
dislocated government employees, also remember Aston Martin, Jaguar, Volvo
are Ford and Mazda may as well be included here also

GM - $1 million to American Red Cross, match employee donations dollar for
dollar, temporary use of assorted vehicles, I would but Daewoo and Isuzu in
this class also, Saab belongs here also

Goodyear - $1 million to American Red Cross and NY Times 9/11 Fund, and
making sure that there are no tire shortages for the NYC or DC areas

CART - Race purse ($500,000) to the World Trade Center Relief Fund,
additionally Drivers donated $50,000 to the same fund

NASCAR (drivers) - Various amounts based on laps completed at Delaware 400
est. was in the 6 figures (no numbers at Grassroots press time)

Bridgestone/Firestone - $100,000 to American Red Cross

I also know that Ferrari F1 (i.e. Fiat) donated money as did many F1 teams
(surprise) and I assume many others. Just because it is not easily found on
the web don't jump to conclusions. I would ask at the dealership if it
matters that much. I will be honest I would not shop a dealer if they made a
donation or not but if it was a close choice then it would come into play.
This list also shows that the Germans seem to support the US more than the
US companies.

Thanks
John V
