In this case, yes. But only because the router outlet (and possibly the
wiring behind it) is not rated to carry 30 amps. Otherwise, I don't believe
there would be a problem. In American wiring practice, the fuses/circuit
breakers are not there to protect the powered device, but rather the wiring
between the breaker and device. Thus, there's nothing wrong with plugging a
neon nightlight that draws only 1/100 of an amp into a 15 amp outlet (with a
15 amp fuse).
