Let's not get too carried away here. I buy bolts at the local "Aero
Surplus" house, they charge the same price for Grade 8, AN, or Grade 2. If
Grade 8 is what they have in the thread, head and length that I need, that's
what I use (for non-critical, non-stressed attachments like fenders and
whatnot). IMO if you're busy checking out what grade of bolt holds my
fenders on, you've got a much bigger problem than I do !!!
BTW, I agree entirely that Grade 8 is not necessarily better than Grade 5,
and may be much worse, depending on application.
