Hey guys,
Thanks for all the suggestions - In case you're interested, the solution I used
was to
put a large bolt in one of the extraction holes for the crank pulley, jam a
crowbar
between this bolt and the ground, and have at it with the torque wrench.

P.S. I actually did manage to get the car running again, and I only had to
tear it apart
once more because I overtorqued (READ: snapped off) one of the water pump pulley
bolts...
