Dyes for leaks

Does anyone have any input (pro or con) for the dyes that you add to fluids
then use a backlight to trace for leaks?

I've got some hydraulic oil leaks on my Deere and I'm having a problem
tracing them down.

I know that the dyes are specific to the fluid types.  Where can i get a
set up for these, also?
