ditto the prior note; this is usu a problem if you try to use "energy saver"
34W bulbs with a plain=jane ballast. Overheating is the other problem with
ballasts; otherwise, they should last a long time. I've had a "spare" in my
parts drawers for over 20 years waiting to get the chance to use it! I have
about 40 fixtures in my shop.

Hi Matt.
Be sure that you are using the correct tubes for the ballast.
Newer ballasts will have an indication of the tube type required.
My failing memory says that F40 is common, but there are other types.
