The best care and feeding of a taper fit is to keep them clean and free of chips, grit and grime. I clean mine with a Scotchbrite pad. The external of course is easy, and the Scotchbrite pad is stiff enough that you can stuff it in the drill and turn it around and get it pretty clean. If you have had chip damage to the internal part, you can get an appropriate taper reamer and re-ream it. As for oil, put in on and wipe it off. Enough will be left. |
