        Peter this is the method I use. Get 2 2x6 by 10's and hold them
together and at about 6" to a foot from the top cut a hole through both of
them so that you can put a 1 1/2 or 2" pipe through the hole. Next nail
one of the 2x6's to the side wall of the garage and nail the other one at
the top to one of your ceiling joists. Support this one with a few braces
to the wall in front so that it is steady. Put the pipe through the holes
at the top of the 2x6's and attach the chain fall to it. All the weight is
carried by the floor so you don't have to worry about the roof falling
down on you. I got my pipe from a junk yard for a few bucks.
