10th of what?
"tenths" in machinist's lingo means one tenth of one one thousandth
of an inch: .0001", in other words. Most mics achieve this with
a vernier scale around the barrel, though Starrett (and others,
no doubt) make a direct tenth reading model.
You need to be very careful about surface cleanliness to get
repeatable readings to this degree of accuracy.
