I hadn't intended to repaint the engine original green. I don't have
anything against that, either. I really want a good high-contrast colour
so I can tell when it's clean and see other under-hood bits against it
well. I'm not into buying 'proper green' from Moss for $12/can if I can
get decent engine paint in red or yellow elsewhere for half that or less.

Anyway, thanks for the info, Chris. Thanks also to R. John Lye for
writing me. He says he has best luck if he uses a freshly hot-tanked or
baked block. I'm on a budget, so I had intended to scrub the block clean
myself. Given that, am I going to have serious paint adhesion problems?
I've had flaking engine paint in the engine room for the past few years
and I've had enough!
