There is a welding rod for doing aluminum with arc welders, but it requires a
DC welder (the better arc welders are AC/DC). I have not tried it with mine
(mine is only AC :^( ), but it does also work for brazing aluminum-amazingly
well. I picked up these rods at menards, I don't know if there is such a
place where you are. I can find out the brand if anyone cares.
A MIG welder works fairly good for sheet metal aluminum (up to 1/4" thick), I
have had very limited success w/ thicker aluminum (Transmission tailshaft).
