Just a quick posting with a query about possible causes of a malfunction:
Symptoms:
Car often stuck in first gear, pushing the gearchange further away, then
pulling back into second always released whatever was causing it to stick.
On Sunday, this did not work and I limped home the last mile in what I
think is first gear. The lever is jammed in the sector of the gate that
suggests it should be in fourth! When changing from first to apparently
first, I might have lost drive for a moment.
