On the front page of 'The Times' [of London] today (Thurs.) there is a
story by Alan Copps about the new R-R/Bentley 'Silver Seraph'/'Arnage'
being powered by the BMW V12 engine (R-R)/V8 (Bentley).
Also, how this must put BMW in the lead when it comes to the new owners,
following Vickers decision to sell the Rolls-Royce Motors business (Bernd
Pischetrieder, chairman of BMW, has already made it clear that if a rival
bid for R-R succeeds, then the BMW engines will no longer be made
available). It is looking increasingly likely that, as they already are
with Rover/Land-Rover, BMW will be the largest owner of previously British
motor manufacturers.
