The 3-speed overdrive and 3-speed non-overdrive are the same length. When I
originally acquired my '56 3100 it had the overdrive transmission. I was
having some issues with it so I replaced with the 3-speed non-overdrive and
used the same driveshaft without modification. Contact me if you decide not
to use the overdrive tranny.
I hope this helps answer your question.
BTW---I enjoy my 3 on tree shifter.

Subject: [Oletrucks] 3 speed overdrive conversion
Happy Holidays everyone. I just acquired a 3 speed od trans that came out
of a 57 Chevy sedan engine unknown. I am thinking of installing it in my
56 = ton which at some point was converted from 3 speed column to 4 speed
floor. I have a 235 6 cyl engine.
Has anyone done this? I havent measured, but Im guessing that I will have
to get the drive shaft modified, does anyone know for sure? I would like to
convert back to 3 on the tree with the od, but I dont have any of the
linkage or shift components and there appear to be a lot of them and they
arent cheap.
Thanks,
Bob
