Hey Guys,
I'm working on my '57 Chevy 3100 series truck, and I've nearly completed the
process of replacing both the engine and tranny with a 305 V8 and what I'm
pretty sure is a 700r4 tranny. I pulled both the engine and tranny myself
out of a '84 Chevy G20 Cargo Van that I bought and drove home so I KNOW both
engine and tranny worked when they were in the van. I pulled the computer
out of the van too just in case; not knowing whether I'd need it or not.
Now the engine and tranny are in my truck, engine is running and everything
is connected EXCEPT the computer that came out of the van. The problem is
the tranny won't work. A friend of mine mentioned I might need a
'transmission torque converter lock out' device or something like that.
My question is; what is this 'lock out device' I was told about?
Where can I get one?
How much will it cost?
Is it something a shade-tree mechanic like me can put in?
Or is there some other simple fix to get the tranny working again?
