Installing 75 chev pu 12 bolt rearend in 55 1st pu. Stock 55 locates lower forward side of spring plate - upper on outside of frame forward of axle. 75 rearend has housing mounts about a foot inboard of the frame requiring xmember for upper mounts. 55 stock outboard should provide more stability but upper stock shock mounts with single vertical stud out of shock and outside the frame could have a tire clearance problems. Have concerns if contemporary shocks would be available for the 55 vertical upper mount and which location would provide more stability. All opinions welcomed, Jim |
