------------------------------
Greetings, Mark -
I would like to give you the opportunity to locate a vehicle that has
been eluding me ever since it slipped out of my hands in 1995. I have
tried countless ads, leads, websites, museums, collectors, dealers,
psychics, gypsies, and thieves in my unsuccessful attempt to find a
particular vehicle that is far too distinctive and unique to have
just disappeared.
This vehicle is a 1949 GMC Panel Truck Bookmobile with lift-up side
panels & built-in shelves, providing access from outside the vehicle,
with additional storage space inside.
It was sold by the Kruse Co. in the liquidation auction of Herbie
Livingston's Antique Auto Museum in Mt. Pleasant (Charleston area)
S.C. in 1995. It is believed to have been purchased by the owner of
an auto museum somewhere in the southeast, possibly on the gulf coast.
The vehicle had been used in library service in N.C. for many years
prior to its acquisition by Mr. Livingston for display in his museum.
At the time of its sale in 1995, it was black, intact, complete,
fully operable, and in excellent overall condition.
I will offer you the same finder's fee, broker's commission, etc. as
I have quoted to others along the way: 10% of my purchase price up to
$10,000., plus 5% of the purchase price above $10,000.
A simple example of this formula: $20,000. purchase price - $1,000.
(10% of first $10,000.) + $500. (5% of amount over $10,000.) =
$1,500. paid on a $20,000. purchase.
I am primarily interested in the specific vehicle described above,
but am also open to a similar, purpose-built small bookmobile of
panel truck design and, to a lesser degree, other small purpose-built
bookmobiles of the metro van or step van style.
I am not interested in any hulks, derelict rust buckets, or any
vehicle too far, and too long, gone to be brought back into operation.
I am quite serious about this quest, Mark, and can assure you that I
am ready, willing, and able to follow through on the purchase of the
vehicle I seek, and will be pleased to compensate you as outlined
above if you are able to provide the information leading me to the
purchase of the 49 GMC or other suitable vehicle.
If you have any interest in taking on this quest on my behalf, I'll
be happy to communicate further with you by phone, mail, or email.
Sincerely,
Stephen Nolan
