I am putting in an R&P cross member from Jim Meyer Racing. It uses a
t-bird rack, QA1 adjustable shocks, sway bars and camaro spindles. To
mount the engine I used a mounting kit from Transadapt that was
originally bought for my 56 truck. It uses the old Ford round donuts on
top of a perch which is almost level with the top of the frame. This
gave me clearance below the mount for the steering linkage. I am also
shifting the engine to the passenger side to clear the exhaust and
steering. I am using some Summit block hugger headers for extra
clearance. With the HEI distributor very near the firewall, it looked
like my fan would hit my radiator. I forgot that the 216 was a much
longer engine.

the AD trucks are setup for a straight 6 motor, you'll have plenty of
room
for a SBC with a long pump. your problems will be motor and exhaust
clearance around the steering box. a new xmember with rack & pinion
steering
will fix this.
