For bare metal it has been recommended to me:
Clean bare metal with POR-15 Marine Cleaner
Coat with POR-15 Metal Ready ( will acid etch with zinc phosphate film ) -
rinse with water & dry
Primer paint with Valspar Refinish VP-40 Epoxy Primer. Reconfirmed today
with supplier surface will be sealed from moisture knowing maybe a year
before finish painting - should not be a problem
Have also used POR -15 " Paint Over Rust " ?? paint on my frame - wire
brushed & power washed & brushed on- looks great & like Steve it wears off
anything else.
