data plate? what data plate? the manufacturers didn't start putting data
plates in till after the ad series (if memory serves me all major
manufacturers had them by 59ish). that is part of the beauty of these old
trucks, you can pick whatever color was available for that year and it is
technically correct. as for removing oxidation give the truck a good
thorough hand washing and be a little aggressive with the wash mitt. after
drying take some 3m perfect it, or gunmetal polish, or tarnish remover, or
the novus scratch remover (used for removing scratches in the visor of your
motorcycle helmet or mc windshield) and polish it out. the last three are
all about the same, and won't leave any swirl marks if you polish lightly
and continually shake out the polishing cloth.
