You may need an appraisal to establish the trucks value, but insurance is to
protect you from loss, not your agent. Totaled means the settlement is
based on the money required to replace the truck. If the appraisal says
$15,000 you'll get a check based on that amount.
Think about what you have in it, and what it would take to replace it. Base
your decision on how much risk you are willing to take, compared to what the
insurance will cost.
Find a new agent, one who cares about what you need.

It is officially registered licensed and insured, and It goes around the
block just fine. It's covered with liability insurance at this time. State
Farm
person gave me the impression she thought the truck was a piece of junk and
I'd
be lucky to make around the block like at the beginning of the project, and
our discussion was probably swayed by this perception. She indicated that at
an
estimated value of 10-15,000 the insurance company would total it with
nearly
any damage, I guess because it is an old truck, making additional coverage
inadvisable. What say you? I've never driven a car worth this much before.
In
fact all the cars I've ever bought haven't added up to what I've spent on
this
guy. Liability insurance is just a reflex at this point.
oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959
