Before you try it without gaskets, you'll probably need to have the
manifolds surfaced to make sure they are flat. I have a 455 Olds in my '51 AD
1/2 ton and the engine came without gaskets from the factory.

Try It without gaskets, I never use gaskets with stock manifolds.
