Thanks to everyone that chimmed in. I decided to switch the temp sender and the heater hose fitting. I'm still using the original "big ugly" alternator bracket, but that's ok because my goal is to just get this truck back on the road. I haven't tried it with coolant yet, but it sure did make my life easier! Now I can move on and finish getting this truck back on the road.
