I've been thinking of doing the same thing to my '56 Chevy 1/2 ton. The
other day I got a fall sales brochure from Brothers Truck Parts in CA and
saw a Chevy Blazer poly tank for about the same price. The ad said it would
fit 47-72 trucks so I emailed them back asking for more info.
They replied the ad was a misprint and the tank only fits 67-79 pickups (oh
well). Most metal tanks I've seen run in the $375-$450 range and some
require you remove the rear frame crossmember.
I'd be very interested in what you come up with. Please keep the mailing
list advised of your research and what you've decided to buy.
