[oletrucks] Tranny popping out of gear

My '56 has about 110k miles on it and I am just now getting a problem with the 
tranny. While driving down the road, it will pop out of 3rd gear. One of my 
buds thinks its worn servo gears. This is the 3 speed column shift tranny. Any 
other ideas, or do I need to overhaul the tranny? It is reasonable for the 
average shade tree to overhaul it  with the service manual?
