Is that grill a 'fleet' option grill? Some GMC's in 58/59 came with single
headlights and a weird grill, maybe it is one of those. Either way I agree
with you, replace it! Maybe the 348 was part of a "special order"?

I hate what the last guy did to the grill, but that's coming off and a repro
chrome one ...or maybe even some other sort of mesh grill will go on there.
Any suggestions?
That flat bed was obviously home made, but not a bad job at all. One guy
speculated he used it as a welding equipment truck.
Anyone else running a 348? What's the good and bad points of rebuilding
this 348 and using it? I know...parts are harder to find and more expensive
for starters.
