Yes that's the fuel filler out the right side in front of the fender.....the
frame (and gas tank) are from my Panel, so it's just like a '48 tank with
custom filler neck ..I had to muck with the bed cross members a bit (and the
fill is a little low and it takes some attention (and a rag) to fill without
splashing the shoes. The running gear is all Camaro ('78)...front(narrowed
1 1/2"), rear(with 1/4" spacers), column, brake pedal, motor and trans. The
motor is the 305 'perked-up' a bit with a cam and four-barrel. The motor is
long pump and clutch fan with radiator in stock position (just lowered a
bit)....I had to drop the already recessed part of the firewall to get the
HEI out of the passenger compartment and I had to go with short valve covers
for clearance...most people don't even notice the firewall recess until I
point it out.
...as for some of the questions from others.......the paint is Torreador Red
(a F**d color but you're right..it's pretty)...the bed wwod is Pine with
spar varnish, the exhaust is glasspack 2 1/2 all the way back...the tranny
has a mild shift kit.....the wheels are Craggar SS 15x7 in front with 225R70
and 15X8 in back with 255R70 (fills the wells and provides long legs for the
highway (and good mileage...that's the plan anyway)...I'm wishing I went a
little smaller in front (rubs a little at full crank of the wheel)...the
backs rubbed a little at first on the inside (hence the spacers) The
tires are a little 'square' after sitting for almost three years...I'm
hoping they'll round out with some miles....next time I'd wait until the end
for wheels and tires. I'm expecting the suspension to settle a little in
the next month or so (been unsprung awhile) and then I'll address final ride
height.
Also: the A/C is Vintage Air, (not charged yet, but soon) the install was
straight forward...read the instructions and proceed...the brackets all
lined up with no problems whatsoever.
All for now...I'm going for another spin about the block...

It gives me itchy feet. Hopefully next year mine will be rolling again. I've
a couple questions for you. Is that your fuel cap sticking out on the
passenger side of the bed? Is it original are fabbed? My 51 is in the cab
and I really don't want it there. I heard the older ones were under the bed
forward of the axle. What front end do you have in there and did your engine
fit alright without cutting the fire wall?
