I figured it was just my luck. I had heard and have since that they are good
batteries. We used them to run our 200kw generators when I was in the USMC, 2
sets of series connected in parralel for 24 volts. They handled very well.
Maybe I shoulda snuck one from the motor pool. That one would have lasted for
ever. The one I had I bought when I was in ca. and couldn't get back there to
try the warranty thing. And you know how it goes, ya gotta have a battery.
Maybe it got jarred too much, I know at times I did in that Jeep. Who knows.

Subject: Re: [oletrucks] Optima Battery?
I put an Optima Bat in my 78 CJ-5 when I was out in AZ in 1997. I read
and heard they were the stuff, so I installed one in Nov and it went bad
in Aug the following summer. I guess it didn't like the desert heat.
Never got another one since. Wish I would have never sold that Jeep too!

The battery in my '55 seems to have bitten the dust. Before I buy a new
one I wanted to consider the Optima. I like the high tech look, and what
I've read suggest they are superior. Is anyone using one? Have any
opinions?
