i would get air shocks for the rear i can get you a monroe part number. are
you stock? for the front maybe air also but i use omnroe air and i LOVE
them. i run 4 on the rear of my panel and have had, well, i guessed at about
an EXTRA 1500-2000 pounds on the rea on top of the normal 2000. and i could
pump it up to standard ride hieght. PLUS... =) they ride like a dream.

monroe part number can be crossed to any other brand at your FLAPS
rear-33049 which is a load-leveler
front- LE 10003 or 3100 for the 55-59 truck. i think it will work on the 54
also. MAYBE.
BTW-the horror-the rear shock also shares application with;
amc javelin68-74, buick fullsize 59-60, all 52-54 caddy, all 49-57 chevy
truck, ford trucks, galazie 500, 71-82 LTD, honda passport, isuzu rodeo,
lincoln-70-81, nissan, olds 64-72, toyota celica70-77, corolla 80-91.... =)
the stock configuration for that rear shock is;
s-upper mount(stud or hole in mounting plate)
L1-lower mount(loop or stud sticking out from mounting platethat is 5/8 x 1
5/16 long)
12.65 compressed
21.37 extended
8.72 travel
if you give me max compressed hieght-if your truck is lowered or anything...
measure distance between mounts and then subtract whatevers left before you
hit axle bump-stop. i can give you a part number that will work really
good-not perfect factory but will be good. i can also give you specs for you
to decide yourself.
