I saw an article in a recent issue of some truck or rod magazine that
introduced either this product or one like it. It had all that kind of
detail, unfortunately I don't recall what magazine it was, or really even
how long ago...

Jim:
I don't really know what the pressure is. What the guy from R.B.'s told me
is that the GM pump pressure output is higher pressure than what the MII
rack was designed for. The spring and valve I installed in the output of
the pump is supposed to match these up. I know that the truck steers very
easy (but not twitchy) and smooth. So, something must be working! Sorry I
don't have a more exact answer for you.
If it helps, my power steering pump came from a 1985 IROC Camaro.

Jeff,
What pressure do you have your PS pump set to?

Bob:
Can't help you on ther non-power set up. I have a Heidt's MII IFS on my 56
TF and I have power steering as well. I don't think I would want to be with
out the power steering! I wasn't much hassle and the hoses and pump are all
stock GM or Ford items. I already had the GM pump from my donor and I
bought the MII rack used off of e**y for 30 bucks. I did buy a new valve
and spring for the pump that matches the GM pump pressure to the MII rack.
I got that from R.B.'s for less than $10 I think.
For what little hassle it might be, I think it is worth it. My truck drives
very well in town and on the highway. It now has very nice manners for a
truck.

To add to Mark's question, does anyone have an opinion on power steering on
one of the Mustang II units? I have pretty much decided to put in a MII
unit in my 49 burb. One of the suppliers here in Denver recommended going
with the non power steering unit. He didnt think it was required. It would
make parking a little harder, but might improve the feel at speed. It would
be cheaper and less hassle to install too. Any one installed the non power
steering MII front end?
Thanks,

riding and how do you like it? what would you change? let me know what IFs
you run and what you would keep the same and what you would get rid of and
what you would install in its place.
and for those of you w/out panel or sub-what do you use and prefer for
aftermarket IFs or have you ridden in a friends ifs panel/sub.
im looking specifically for a AD panel/sub.
