there is an excellent article for shortening a LWB to a SWB in the Truckin'
Classic Trucks magazine from August 1995. (so I'm a little behind in my
reading). I could scan the article and send it directly to you if you want.
Two posibilities exist
1) shorten your frame to the correct wheelbase. then add on the back to
support the bed. as long as the suspension is intact you will only be
supporting the bed.
2) cut your frame and add the correct length from a donor frame
