Hook the pedal to a momentary contact push button switch or something 
like a brake light switch, then hook that to the starter solenoid? 
Just a thought.  I would be reluctant to dump the new ring gear and 
starter just to get a floor button starter.

Would a 55.2-59 starter with the foot pedal mesh with the new gear?
