Hi:
Dave here with my son Dusty's '50 GMC. Remember, we've got that later model
235 ci Six in his half-ton, all stock. Lately it's hard-starting after
sitting a day or two. After charging the battery up, it seems to fire up
quite readily. But even before charging it, the motor spins long and fast
enough to start, or it should anyway. I'm thinking weak battery, but maybe
it's a weak fuel pump? Or even the stock ignition system is weak, giving a
less-than-idea spark for cold starts? Has anyone switched to an electronic
ignition system on one of these? Comments?
Thanks!
Happy holidays all.
Dave
