700R4 is a good option for low to medium powered
trucks. One thing to know ahead of time is that the
trans is a little longer (than a turbo 350 etc), and
therefore will require crossmember modification and a
shortened driveshaft. I put one behind a stout
smallblock in a Chevelle wagon, and it made for great
highway cruising. In fact, I eventually swapped to
deeper rear gears (4.11) to fully take advantage of
the overdrive and get quicker accelleration out of the
deal. I also own an '89 K5 Blazer that sees alot of
off road use and is fitted with 35 inch tires and 4.88
gears. The stock 700R4 in that truck has survived over
125K miles so far, and is not showing any signs of
fatigue yet! Hope this is the kind of info you were
looking for!

Old Chevy's never die, they just keep getting better.
New Chevy's are overpriced junk. They just keep
getting worse!
