Yes, basically the cabs are all the same '55-2 thru '59, 3000 series 1/2 ton
thru 10000 series 2-1/2 ton. The 5000, 7000 and 9000 series Low Cab Forward
(LCF) cabs are different. They easy to identify, the wheel well cuts back
into the door opening.
There could be some minor changes to the cabs such as the size of the
transmission inspection cover and the steering column openings. The big
trucks will have a lot more mounting holes drilled into the fire wall for
air/vacuum lines etc. The big trucks also had an extra wide rocker molding
screwed over the standard one (never did figure out why they did that?).
The only difference between Chevy and GMC is the dash and again the floor
cut outs for the transmission and the steering column. GMC also had a 3
piece rear window in place of the "big" window. This was only used on the
"big" trucks that were subject to heavy flexing (cement and dump trucks).
They also bolted heavy duty wedges on the inside of the door next to the
latch to keep the door closed when the body flexed.
