Definitely look for another tire shop. Also multi piece rims use a thick
rubber "boot" that fits between the tube and rim inside the tire, seems
like that would work here also.
Both the tube and boot would have to be for radials, and yes they do
make'em, I've got radials with tubes and boots on my '49.
