Thanks for everybody's help on this question. I fired up the wrecker
this afternoon and the power takeoff worked in both directions with no
problem. It helped that I was able to download the O&M manual for the
winch off of the web this morning so now I know how it works and how to
service it. I got the wrecker running good just in time. The guy that
bought my '48 and '50 Dodge trucks is coming to pick them up next week
and he is saying that the winch on his trailer is week (the big "push"
bumper on the front of the wrecker will come in handy there). The '48
is sitting in the back corner of my garage with a blown front tire. I
maneuvered it in there using two floor jacks and a lot of sweat! It
will be muck easier to hook up to the front of it with the wrecker and
just tow it out of there!
