Hi all,
I just got a suppositally original 16 X 6, 6 lug truck
rim for the side mount spare on my 53 a few days ago
from a guy who says it's an original rim, yet I have
some serious doubts as to whether or not it is indeed
the original rim. The 4 other rims on my truck aren't
the original rims, so I have no way to compare this
one to a true original rim.
I see a marking on the inside of the rim that says 16
X 4.00. This doesn't sound right. When I measure the
across the rim, it is 15 1/4" wide from end to end &
4" wide from the inside of the rim, inner flange to
inner flange.
When i put it on the side mounted spare carrier,
theirs roughly a 2-1/2" to 3" gap or so between
the rim side closest to the bed and the bed side.
This gap seems way to big. From what I under
stand, the gap should be about a 1/2" or so.
I think I got ripped off. Is their any way to
identify if it is the right rim?
Thanks for any assistance,
Jon
