depends how far you want to go. 15 years ago i put the axle on top of the
leafs, that put it about 6 in off the road. but still drove like a old
truck, then i went the sub frame route.

I took 2 leaves out of each of the front springs (mine had 8 - was heavy
duty) on my 57 GMC 1/2 ton. It brought the front down about 1.5".
