I would like to know the same thing. My aftermarket "original" door latches
work very poorly, in fact I think they are worse than the 50 year old ones I
replaced. There is a kit out there to replace our old latches with bear claw
latches and retain the original handles and locks but I can't get anybody to
tell me 'exactly' what the installation entails. I have only been told that
there is some welding involved but I don't know how much. This is the response
I got when I asked the vendor what it would take:
{Terry,
This installation would require cutting and welding.

I hope you can learn more and keep me informed.

Subject: [oletrucks] Door latch info needed
Hi all,
Having great difficulty using aftermarket "original" door latches. Anyone
installed the rotary or bear claw latches in the AD trucks? I want to use
the original door handles inside and out. How much cutting and welding is
necessary? Where might be the best place to buy them?
Thanks,
Don
