[oletrucks] 55 chev first series - engine & frount suspension

Just purchased forgotten first series - major problems - dip stick 3 inches
oil on top of 6 inches of water & loose front end.

Thinking of chev small block / auto & with major front end repairs required
replacement with newer ( softer) suspension with approximate stock height
without going to major frame altering. Told 53 chev sedan front suspension
would fit with minor alterations?

Any same experience out there?
