Greetings!
I'm working on a '53 Chevy 1/2 ton resto-rod project. I got some stainless
steel trim for the doors that goes around the inside and outside of the
windows. The inner trim goes in very easily and it is obvious how to install
it, BUT the outer trim is a complete mystery! Does anyone know how to install
the outer SS trim on these AD trucks? My truck has the vent window in it. The
challenge is getting the trim (which has a channel that slips over the pinch
welded edge of the window opening) in the window opening without bending it
hopelessly out of shape - AND without scratching the heck out of the paint! I
tried slipping it in from the outside, from the inside, slipping the bottom
edge on first, the top edge first, etc. etc. No matter what I tried, I was
unable to slip the channel over the window edge all the way around. BTW, I
checked the original window trim (painted, not SS) that came off of these doors
and they are exactly the same shape and size - so I am fairly
certain that there is a way to put them on! Does anyone have any experience to
share on this? Thanks in advance!
