About 87 or so up the V-8's in the trucks at least had the size cast into
the "ledge" on back of engine where trans bolts up to it. It's near outsi=
de
edge. It will be listed as 5.0 ltr for 305 and 5.7 ltre for 350's. Also n=
ear
right head on block edge that sticks out some is a code stamped in the bl=
ock
that has letters and numbers. Numbers are the manufactorer's date and the
letters will tell the year, trans type, and vehicle it was originally put=
in
or built for. The letters can be called/taken to a dealer parts counter t=
o
look up. OR, maybe a Camaro/Nova/Chevelle list has some ID charts.=0D

Thanks Everybody for all the great Info on my 350/700r questions. It seem=
s
that=0D
all of you agree on 88 or later 700r . Now I need to know how can I figur=

out=0D
what year the 700r was made. Is the year built part of the serial number =
?
If=0D
not is their a link I can go to with the serial number and find out?=0D
=0D
I would also like to know if there is a link to find out the same Info on
the=0D
engine. A guy I know told me the engine may not be a 350 . He said it cou=
ld
be a=0D
305 . Is there any way to tell buy just looking at the engine? Or do I ne=
ed
to=0D
use the serial number?=0D
