I purchased a new 5.7L "Vortec" engine for my '53. According to the dealer,
this is called a "Sequential Fuel Injection". These engines were factory
installed in '96 - 2000 Chevy pickup trucks. Can anyone explain the difference
between this and the TPI and TBI engines?

Thanks.

Steve,
I purchased a 98 silverado and after hearing all the talk about the
tranny going bad in these trucks, i've talked with the local chevy dealer
and he basically said if your towing anything over 800 lbs--dont do it in
overdrive, but to be safer---never tow in overdrive.... He also stated
that most folks never ever have their automatic transmissions serviced and
its the fluid that gets burnt so bad and that is what burns them up. I
bought my truck with 52k miles and immediately had the tranny fluid and
filter changed. ALthough they only do a backflush on the system and don't
removed the pan or anything, the filters are stainless steel not
paper--thats they new way of changeing tranny fluid. If you got one of
these trucks with an automatic--be sure to get the tranny serviced and
follow the towing rules,, I'll have to read my manual to see what it
says.. Join the crowd on the rebuilt I know 4 guys that had to have it
done--strange enough, not a single one of them has ever had their tranny
fluid changed or tranny serviced.
Just food for thought.---wayne
