That makes me wonder something; do you want the rotor pointing to the
number 1 plug wire cap at tdc, or at whatever the timing should be, like
4 degrees btdc? Or is tdc close enough to get it running, when you can
do the timing right?

distributor and mark the distributor body where the rotor points.
Install
the cap and place the wire to plug #1 at that point and the others in
correct firing order. Make sure the distributor seats all the way down

engages the oil pump slot. Study your manual on this, it is explained
